Pierre put his chisel down and stared at the incomplete sculpture. He didn’t know why he was stopping after five years of endless creating, but it felt as right as the decision to initially start. Pierre smiled and looked at his hands. White with marble dust, callused, and hard.

Sarah sat in the same black leather armchair that she’d come to know so well, her therapist sitting in a stiffer armchair across from her. She waited as he took a few notes—the usual start to one of their sessions. Date and time stuff, most likely, she thought.

Most believe that they were born as twins. Born from the same mother, at more or less the same time. This is a common mistake in their legend. They were indeed born at the same time, but from different mothers, and half a world away from each other.

David looked over to Marta with a twitchy smile and then back to the men and women in suits around the boardroom table. The presentation was done, so half of the nerves he had just moments before were gone. Yet, the relief mixed with future uncertainty.
